Health system reform discussions have kicked into high gear in Washington, D.C, as President Barack Obama and the U.S. Congress have determined the issue to be a very high priority in 2009 and beyond.

We've compiled health system reform information here so you can be informed and speak your mind on the various plans proposed by the Obama administration and Congress.

It's easy:

  • Visit www.sdsma.org and log in with your username and password in the box in the upper left-hand corner of the page, under the SDSMA logo.
  • Click on “SDSMA Forum” and when the page loads, click on “Login,” found in the set of links near the upper right-hand corner of the page between “Search” and “RSS.”
  • Enter your username and password again.
  • On the next page, you’ll see a list of forum topics. Click on “SDSMA Health System Reform.”
  • On the next page, click on “Health System Reform”.
  • You will see a list of topics. To create a new message under a topic, click on the topic title and start typing under “new post.” When you’re finished typing, hit “submit.” To post a new topic, click on “new topic” on the forum topics page.

AMA Annual House of Delegates Meeting

A delegation of SDSMA leaders attended the annual AMA House of Delegates meeting June 13-17. President Obama spoke to the AMA House of Delegates on Monday, June 15, on the issue of health care reform.

SDSMA Health System Reform Task Force

This task force, comprised of members of the SDSMA Committee on Legislation and the Committee on Medical Practice, is meeting regularly to discuss the latest developments and to guide the direction in which the SDSMA is taking to address health system reform. The first meeting of the task force was held July 15 in Sioux Falls.
