The SDSMA staff is dedicated to meeting the needs of members and carrying out the directives of the SDSMA Policy Council.
The Executive Office staff provides for the overall management of SDSMA and its staff. This office provides staff support to the Policy Council, administrative services for the Association’s officers and operational resources to support Association activities.
Our administrative services staff coordinates Policy Council meetings and activities, plans the annual meeting, oversees section activities, works with the SDSMA Committee on Ethics and Judicial Affairs, provides administrative support to the SDSMA Foundation, and provides executive management services to district and specialty societies.
Advocacy and Legislation
Our legislative staff coordinates SDSMA’s legislative program, lobbies policies adopted by the Policy Council before the state legislature, coordinates opportunities for members to get involved through the Doctor of the Day and Physician Lobbyist programs, and provides staff support for SDSMA PAC.
The communication staff helps establish and meet SDSMA’s goals for communicating with its members, the media and the general public. The staff also produces the association’s monthly journal, South Dakota Medicine.
Member Services staff coordinates membership recruitment and retention activities, manages member benefits and responds to member inquiries. Staff also maintains member files, including application processing, annual dues billing, updating of demographic records, and publishing the annual Member Directory.
The SDSMA focuses on public health, scientific and patient safety issues throughout the state, emphasizing areas in which high-quality medical care and scientific expertise can benefit all South Dakotans.
