SDSMA President Jennifer J. Tinguely, MD, MPH
Jennifer J. Tinguely, MD, MPH, of Sioux Falls became the 143rd president of the SDSMA on May 31, 2024. She has been an active member of the SDSMA since 2007. She is a family medicine physician and chief medical officer of Falls Community Health in Sioux Falls. She has been involved in leadership in healthcare for many years. She has held positions on the SDSMA’s Board of Directors, Policy Council, committees, her local District 7 Medical Society, and is a member of the American Medical Association. Dr. Tinguely is also a graduate of the SDSMA’s Health Leadership Institute. During the state legislative session, Dr. Tinguely has volunteered for the SDSMA’s advocacy efforts by participating in the Doctor of the Day program at the state capitol in Pierre and providing testimony on bills related to gun safety. Prior to her medical training, she received a Master of Public Health degree from Boston University with a focus on maternal and child health and Native American health disparities. She worked for four years in the public health arena at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York City before moving back to South Dakota to receive her medical degree from the University South Dakota School of Medicine and completed her residency with the Sioux Falls Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Tinguely completed additional training on buprenorphine prescribing and is a strong advocate of medication assisted treatment for patients with substance use disorders. She is part of a post-overdose response team in Minnehaha and Lincoln counties. In April 2024, she was appointed to the South Dakota Board of Addiction and Prevention Professionals. Dr. Tinguely is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine and is the course director for the Pillar 2 Cultural Immersion course. |
