The SDSMA staff is dedicated to meeting the needs of members and carrying out the directives of the SDSMA Policy Council.
Executive Office
The Executive Office staff provides for the overall management of SDSMA and its staff. This office provides staff support to the Policy Council, administrative services for the Association’s officers and operational resources to support Association activities.
Administrative Services
Our administrative services staff coordinates Policy Council meetings and activities, plans the annual meeting, oversees section activities, works with the SDSMA Committee on Ethics and Judicial Affairs, provides administrative support to the SDSMA Foundation, and provides executive management services to district and specialty societies.
Advocacy and Legislation
Our legislative staff coordinates SDSMA’s legislative program, lobbies policies adopted by the Policy Council before the state legislature, coordinates opportunities for members to get involved through the Doctor of the Day and Physician Lobbyist programs, and provides staff support for SDSMA PAC.
Communications
The communication staff helps establish and meet SDSMA’s goals for communicating with its members, the media and the public. The staff also produces the association’s monthly peer-reviewed medical journal, South Dakota Medicine.
Membership Services
Member Services staff coordinate membership recruitment and retention activities, manage member benefits and respond to member inquiries. Public Policy
The SDSMA focuses on public health, scientific and patient safety issues throughout the state, emphasizing areas in which high-quality medical care and scientific expertise can benefit all South Dakotans.
