The SDSMA closely monitors rules and regulations that have an impact on patients and physicians. We work to ensure that state and national policymakers hear from the people most concerned with issues that are important to patients and the health of South Dakotans. 

The SDSMA represents South Dakota physicians at the State Capitol in Pierre, promoting legislation that protects patients and safeguards physicians' ability to practice medicine. We bring physicians' perspectives to legislators, state agencies and health organizations that are shaping health care policy.
